Choir Information
The Choir at Chesterfield Parish Church is a voluntary choir of boys
and men and has existed for many years. The choir’s main responsibility
is to provide music of a high standard for the principal acts of worship
on Sundays and also for other festivals throughout the year.
The choir has a varied repertoire; anthems and service settings are
sung, from medieval to modern, accompanied and unaccompanied. There is
always a different choral setting for the Sunday Sung Eucharist, and
Sunday Choral Evensong consists of settings of the canticles, responses
and an anthem.
The choir has a varied list of social activities, especially at
Christmas when there are parties for both the choirboys and the choirmen,
and trips to the cinema or bowling alley are occasionally arranged.
There is ample opportunity for parental involvement in all aspects of
choir life, and events such as quiz nights and bingo evenings are
arranged for everyone. There are regular newsletters outlining
activities or any changes which may occur.
The Director of Music is Ian Brackenbury FRCO
The Assistant Organist is Mark Rothman BA
